Mini-EU summit in Brussels to tackle migration crisis

BRUSSELS, June 22 (KUNA) -- European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker is convening an informal working meeting on migration and asylum issues in Brussels on Sunday, the commission said in a statement Friday.
The informal gathering will try to find "European solutions" to the migration problem ahead of the upcoming formal EU summit, it noted.
According to EU sources, leaders of Germany, Austria, Belgium, France, Greece, Italy, Malta, the Netherlands and Spain are expected to hold the meeting at the European Commission headquarters in Brussels.
Sunday's mini-EU summit comes amid growing row between EU member states on how to deal with the migration issue.
The full summit of the 28 EU leaders will take place in Brussels on 28-29 June.
Most migrants go to Italy and Greece and the EU has appealed to other EU member states to reduce the burden of those two countries by accepting a refugee quota.
But EU member states like Hungary, Poland, the Czech Republic and Slovakia have refused to share the burden and accept any refugee quotas. (end) nk.mt
