France wins to qualify to next round

KUWAIT, June 21 (KUNA) -- The French team's win over Peru 1-0 gave it the three points it needed to guarantee a spot in the round 16 of Russia 2018 World Cup.
The game kicked off with the whistle of the referee from UAE, Mohammad Mohammad, as Peru started well until France began creating dangerous attacks.
Les Blues opened the score sheet with a goal in the 34th minute by Kylian Mbappe, to give his team the lead and enters history today as the youngest player to score a goal for France at a World Cup, aged 19, surpassing David Trezeguet.
The South American team attacked aggressively in search for an equaliser as they were cheered with non-stop enthusiasm by their fans in the Ekaterinburg Arena with an official attendance of 32,789.
In the second half, France began creating opportunities, but Peru managed to put the pressure of the French defensive line and attack from all sides of the pitch, but France's defence reacted very well and was able to recover possession.
The result of the match eliminates Peru from the competition, despite their great efforts. The team was not able to gain any points to keep it in the fight.
France advances to the round of 16 with the victory and lead Group C with six points and will be facing Denmark next without any worries.
France are unbeaten in their past seven World Cup matches against the South American teams in a run that spans 40 years. (pick up previous) aq
