KUWAIT, June 20 (KUNA) -- Uruguay defeated Saudi Arabia 1-0 in today's match held at Rostov Arena and ended hopes for the Saudi team to advance in the competition, while Uruguay secured its qualification in Group A.
The only and winning goal came by Luis Suarez in the 23rd minute of the match after his team began dominating the tempo.
The Saudi team created chances in the second half, as they were able to take shots from inside the penalty area.
Uruguay stands behind Russia on top of Group A and secured their spot for the next stage of the World Cup, while Saudi Arabia will no longer be playing to qualify. (end)
