Milestone victory for Senegal in World Cup

KUWAIT, June 19 (KUNA) -- Senegal was victorious on Tuesday at its first group stage match against Poland with a 2-1 full-time score, in a clash held at the Spartak Stadium in Moscow.
The match kicked-off as referee from Bahrain Nawaf Shukralla blew his whistle, and for the first 10 minutes, there were not any serious chances created by the players.
The Senegalese team opens the score sheet after a shot by Idrissa Gueye deflected in the goal via Thiago Cionek, to give Senegal a 1-0 lead in the 37th minute.
A devastating mistake by the Polish back pass to the defender gave Senegal a chance to score as Mbaye Niang snatched the ball imposing his power and speed to double the lead for his team.
The Polish team did not give up as they played on with 44,190 fans in the stadium creating a great atmosphere in Moscow.
Grzegorz Krychowiak headed in a spectacular goal from a long pass in the 86th minute in Poland's attempt to close the gap before the 90 minutes are over.
Senegal joins Japan at the top of Group H, to move on with high motives and ready to face the challenges to come, as the first African nation to win a match at Russia 2018. (Pickup previous) aq
