Indian forces gun down four militants in Kashmir encounter

NEW DELHI, June 18 (KUNA) -- Indian security forces gunned down at least four militants during an encounter that broke out in Bandipora district of north Indian state of Jammu and Kashmir, media reports said.
At least four militants were killed in an ongoing security operation by the Indian forces at Panar forest area of Bandipora district in the border state, Asian News International quoted sources as saying.
The encounter, according to reports, broke out as the forces were out on a search operation in the region.
Indian Home Ministry had earlier stated that New Delhi will not extend the ceasefire that it had adopted unilaterally during the month of Ramadan and instructed the concerned security authorities to take all necessary measures to put an end to increasing armed attacks, violent incidents and killings in the state.
New Delhi accuses Islamabad of supporting and funding the armed groups in Kashmir, claims which Islamabad denies. (end) atk.mt
