Spanish king's brother-in-law behind bars

MADRID, June 18 (KUNA) -- Spanish king's brother-in-law Inaki Urdangarin has voluntarily entered prison for tax evasion and embezzlement, authorities announced on Monday.
Urdangarin, husband of King Felipe's sister Christina, was put behind bars, executing a court rule that allowed him to choose the jail where he would spend five years and ten months behind the iron bars.
In addition to the imprisonment, he will have to pay a fine worth euro one million (USD 1.7 million).
The king brother-in-law, who had chaired a non-profit organization, was convicted of tax evasion and public funds' embezzlement. He had been stripped of the duke title due to his record. (end) hnd.rk
