Germany meets Mexico in their 4th World Cup encounter

KUWAIT, June 17 (KUNA) -- Germany will be playing against Mexico on Sunday, marking their fourth World Cup encounter and the Germans were unbeaten in all of them.
Germany is playing its first game at the 2018 World Cup, attempting to defend its title it won in 2014 when it beat Argentina 1-0 in the final that was held in Brazil.
The match, to be held in Luzhniki Stadium in Moscow, will see the Germans trying to dominate the game from the first minute.
Germany had won every opening match in each of the last seven world cups, against five to Mexico.
Germany won 10 out of 10 in World Cup qualifying, while Mexico lost just one of their 16 qualifiers.
The Germans might be favorite to win but the Mexicans are not an easy bait.
Germany coach Joachim Low said Mexico was a fast and technically solid opponent.
"I'm optimistic that we'll present ourselves well -- the team will step up this week. Everything is focused on Sunday," he said.
Mexico's Javier Hernandez is still the country's star man to start up front despite a disappointing season at England's West Ham, and goalkeeper Guillermo Ochoa will be looking to repeat his outstanding performance in Brazil four years ago. (end) bs
