ISTANBUL, June 16 (KUNA) -- The Turkish army has bombed an important gathering of the Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK) militants in northern Iraq's Qandil region, President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said Saturday.

"During these last operations, we hit their very critical gathering. We have not received the results yet, but it is certain that we have hit them," Erdogan said in televised interview with the Turkish broadcaster Kanal 7.
He expected that senior PKK members were among the targeted crowd.
Turkey has recently launched broad military operations against PKK members and bastions in both Qandil and Sinjar regions in northern Iraq. (end) ta.ibi
