Saudi forces intercept Houthi ballistic missile

RIYADH, June 14 (KUNA) -- The Royal Saudi Air Defense Forces (RSADF) intercepted a missile launched by Houthis in Yemen towards Saudi Arabia at 03:09 pm local-time Thursday, said the spokesman for the Arab coalition to restore legitimacy in Yemen Colonel Turki Al-Malki.
He explained in a statement that RSADF succeeded in intercepting and destroying the missile, launched from Saada province towards the city of Khamis Mushait to target on purpose civilian and populated areas, but without injuries reported.
He added that the hostile act of the Iran-backed Houthis is a violation of UN resolutions 2216 and 2231 on ending violence and refraining from further aggression against Saudi Arabia and the region.
Al-Malki also noted that targeting civilian areas is a violation of international law. (end) mdm.bb
