GENEVA, June 13 (KUNA) -- UN Secretary General's Special Envoy to Syria Staffan De Mistura sent on Wednesday invitations to senior officials of Iran, Russia and Turkey to discuss creating a constitutional drafting committee for Syria.
The invitation was sent to the officials for discussions in Geneva on 18 and 19 of June on creating a new constitutional committee and the recipients accepted the invitation, said De Mistura's office in a statement.
The special envoy will send invitations to other countries at the appropriate time to discuss similar matters, the statement added.
De Mistura has recently visited Russia, Iran and Egypt, where he discussed the Syrian cause with decision-makers. He also visited Turkey where he met senior officials and Syrian opposition representatives. (end)
