Kuwait dispatches third aircraft to Yemen's Socotra

KUWAIT, June 5 (KUNA) -- Kuwait has sent the third plane carrying humanitarian aid to the hurricane-hit Yemeni Socotra Island in order to ease out the woes of people there, Kuwait Red Crescent Society (KRCS) said on Tuesday.
The fresh relief initiative came at the behest of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, who had instructed that urgent humanitarian aid be dispatched to Yemeni people, KRCS Secretary-General Maha Al-Barjas said in a statement to KUNA.
The Kuwaiti relief aid involving food supplies and blankets mainly aims at alleviating the difficult living conditions of people who have been hit by the devastating Cyclone Mekunu, she said.
Al-Barjas said the society will adopt a project to provide solar energy to "Daba Karajah" village, one of the villages affected by the cyclone, stressing the humanitarian and development role of KRCS.
She praised the efforts of the volunteers, stressing Kuwait's eagerness to stand by the brothers in Yemen.(end) haq
