Coalition: Saudi force destroys Houthis ballistic missile

RIYADH, June 5 (KUNA) -- The Royal Saudi Air Defense Force (RSADF) intercepted a missile launched by Houthis in Yemen towards Saudi Arabia at 04:11 a.m. local-time, said the spokesman for the Arab coalition to restore legitimacy in Yemen Colonel Turki Al-Malki Tuesday.
In a statement, the official said that RSADF succeeded in intercepting and destroying the missile, which was targeting civilian and populated areas in the city of Yanbu without causing any injuries.
Colonel Al-Maliki pointed out that the repeated firing of ballistic missiles for the second time during the presence of the Special Envoy of the Secretary General of the United Nations to Yemen Ghassan Salame in Sanaa proves Al-Houthi terrorist militias' indifference towards the United Nations efforts.
He added that the hostile act of Houthis, who are supported by Iran, is a violation of UN resolutions 2216 and 2231 on ending violence and refraining from further aggression against Saudi Arabia.
Al-Malki also noted that targeting civilian areas is a violation of the international law. (end) mdm.gaa
