BAGHDAD, May 30 (KUNA) -- A national committee tasked with examining progress on pledges made during a Kuwait-hosted conference over reconstruction in Iraq held a meeting on Wednesday with diplomats from donor nations, in addition to representatives of international organizations.
Iraq, in conjunction with its partners, has suggested a preliminary plan of action for reconstruction and development, a government statement cited the secretary general of the Iraqi Cabinet and the head of the national committee Mehdi Al-Allak as saying.
He spoke of a five-year plan that Baghdad has put in place in efforts to get international bodies actively involved in the reconstruction process, including the proper use of financial resources.
The Iraqi official went on to say that his country has reached an epoch of development, with a number of reforms underway to lure foreign investment in a country that lies in tatters after years of war. (end) ahh.nam
