French workers renew protests against Macron reforms

PARIS, May 26 (KUNA) -- Dozens of thousands of workers took to streets across France on Saturday in protest against the economic policy of President Emmanuel Macron.
As the protests went violent in Paris and a policeman was injured, the police arrested nearly 40 persons, according to local media.
The protesters accuse Macron's policy of favoring the interests of the rich over those of the civil servants; they call this police an attack against public service.
These marches follow strikes on Tuesday when civil servants joined rail workers in similar marches.
Since April, the French government faces repeated worker strikes and protests due to a new pension plan which aims to encourage workers into early voluntary retirement. (end) mjz.gb
