Cyclone Mekunu kills 3 people in Oman, downgraded to category 1

MUSCAT, May 26 (KUNA) -- Cyclone Mekunu, which resulted in the death of three people in Oman yesterday, was downgraded to category one with wind speed reaching below 154 kmph, said the Sultanate's Public Authority for Civil Aviation (PACA) Saturday.
According to the PACA, heavy rain continues to fall on the Governorates of Dhofar and Al-Wusta, resulting accumulated rainwater between 200-400 ml and floods.
Omani authorities had evacuated around 10,000 from the provinces of Dhofar and Wusta yesterday. (end) ahr.gta
