N. Korea threatens to cancel Kim-Trump summit

TOKYO, May 24 (KUNA) -- North Korea on Thursday renewed its threat to reconsider the planned summit with the US if Washington sticks to "unlawful and outrageous acts," blasting recent remarks by US Vice President Mike Pence.
"In case the US offends against our goodwill and clings to unlawful and outrageous acts, I will put forward a suggestion to our supreme leadership for reconsidering the DPRK-US summit," North Korean Vice Foreign Minister Choe Son-hui said in a statement carried by state-run Korean Central News Agency.
DPRK is the acronym of the North's formal name in English, the Democratic People's Republic of Korea.
"We will neither beg the US for dialogue nor take the trouble to persuade them if they do not want to sit together with us," said Cho, a senior official in charge of negotiations with the US.
The summit between North Korean leader Kim Jong-un and US President Donald Trump is set for June 12 in Singapore. "Whether the US will meet us at a meeting room or encounter us at nuclear-to-nuclear showdown is entirely dependent upon the decision and behavior of the US," she warned.
Her statement comes after remarks by Pence in a media interview earlier this week, as he threatened that North Korea could end up like Libya if it fails to make a nuclear deal with the US. Pence also said it would be a big mistake for Kim to think he could play Trump. (end) mk.ag
