KUWAIT, May 22 (KUNA) -- Kuwait Environment Protection Society (KEPS) will be joining festivities as the world marks "International Day for Biological Diversity" on Tuesday.
KEPS' contributions towards biodiversity date back 45 years in which a bevy of volunteers have launched initiatives to support this noble cause, Nawaf Al-Muwail, a member of KEPS' Board of Trustees, told the press.
He pointed out that the activities ranged from field trips and surveys conducted nationwide, all of which have helped generate broad awareness over the merits of biodiversity.
The United Nations has designated May 22 of each year as " International Day for Biological Diversity" in a bid to increase understanding of biodiversity issues. (end)
