Iraqi court sentences Belgian to death for joining IS

BAGHDAD, May 22 (KUNA) -- Iraq's Central Criminal Court on Tuesday handed down a death sentence by hanging to a Belgian for pledging allegiance to the so-called Islamic State (IS).
Tarek Jadaoun, who is of Moroccan origin and goes by the alias Abu Hamza Al-Beljiki, was found guilty of fighting for IS, Judge Abdulsattar Al-Birqdar, the spokesman for the Supreme Judicial Council, said in a statement.
"Al-Beljiki was one of the most wanted foreign fighters who fought on behalf of the terrorist organization in Syria and Iraq," he added.(end).
