Emergency landing in Jeddah leads to injury of 53 passengers

JEDDAH, May 22 (KUNA) -- An emergency landing, made by an Airbus A330-200 aircraft belonging to the Saudi Arabian Airlines (Saudia) in Jeddah, led to the injury of 53 passengers, said the Saudi Aviation Investigation Bureau (AIB) late Monday.
In a press release, the AIB said that flight SV3818, bound from Madinah to Dhaka, made an emergency landing in Jeddah at 09:50 p.m. local-time due a malfunction in the front wheels of the aircraft. There were 141 passengers on board with 10 crewmembers, added the AIB.
A Saudia spokesperson said the pilot "made several attempts but failed to correct the malfunction" and subsequently made an emergency landing with the nose gear retracted. (end) nh.gta
