Two Turkish soldiers killed in bomb attack - security sources

ISTANBUL, May 20 (KUNA) -- Two Turkish soldiers were killed when an improvised explosive device went off near a military vehicle in the Agri Province in Eastern Turkey, said Security sources on Sunday.
The improvised devised, planted by the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK), targeted the military vehicle passing by in Dogubayazit district of Agri Province near the Iranian border, said Anadolu News Agency citing the sources.
They added a massive operation supported by the air force began in the area to arrest the perpetrators of the attack.
Turkish Military and Security Forces are targeting many armed groups including the PKK that pose a threat to the military and civilians.
Listed as a terrorist organization by Turkey, the US and the EU, the PKK has waged a wide-ranging terror campaign against the Turkish state since the mid-1980s, in which an estimated 40,000 people have been killed. (end) ta.aq
