Hundreds of thousands partake in mass rally in Istanbul on Jerusalem

ISTANBUL, May 18 (KUNA) -- Hundreds of thousands of the Turkish people and Arab community on Friday took part in a mass rally organized in Istanbul in support of Jerusalem.
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan urged Israeli and US peoples to protest against mistakes, including that are related to Jerusalem, made by their administrations.
Speaking during the rally, which showed solidarity with Jerusalem, Erdogan appealed to the Israeli people to protest against their government's policy, which leads to a catastrophe, and to the US people to reject mistakes made by their administration.
The rally was organized to protest against massacres committed by the Israeli occupation forces against Palestinians in the Gaza Strip over the last days that led to the martyrdom of more than 60 and the injury of more than 2,600 others.
He said that he differentiates between the Zionists and Jews and affirmed that "the real conflict is with the Zionists who cannot tolerate with Muslims." He noted that Jerusalem is not just a city, but a symbol and a qibla that must be safeguarded by the nation.
He pointed out that Israel has been doing whatever it wants in Palestine since 1947, and continues its acts relentlessly.
Erdogan said that "the UN which remained silent towards the occupation of Jerusalem in 1967, has participated in this injustice by standing idly towards all Israel's immoral and dishonorable practices." He called for the unification of all Muslims so as to face Israel. (end) ta.hm
