Kuwait-hosted conf. lured investors to Iraq - Iraqi Gov't

BAGHDAD, April 26 (KUNA) -- The Kuwait-hosted International Conference on the Reconstruction of Iraq had wooed foreign investors to partake in the reconstruction of the war-affected areas, the Iraqi government said Thursday.
"The success of the Kuwait International Conference on Reconstruction of Iraq, not only embodied the world and international organizations' support to Iraq, but also the sincere desire and determination of dozens of Iraqi and foreign companies to invest in all Iraqi provinces, especially in the reconstruction of the war-ravaged areas," a government statement quoted Secretary General of the Iraqi Cabinet Mahdi Al-Allaq as saying on the sidelines of the investment and reconstruction conference held in Baghdad.
Allaq added that the government would start large-scale activities to rebuild the areas recently liberated from the so-called Islamic State (IS) group.
Several agreements and memoranda of understanding were signed on the sidelines of the forum for investing in a variety of domains including health, education, tourism, economy, industry, technology and trade, the statement unveiled. (end) ahh.ibi
