KOC says oil leak at well site contained

KUWAIT, April 26 (KUNA) -- Kuwait's state-run oil company said on Thursday that an oil leak in a well in the south of the country has been brought under control.
The critical incident was "dealt with in due time", read a statement by Kuwait Oil Company (KOC), suggesting that such a swift response is uncommon for mishaps of that nature.
The statement added that the company's emergency teams would remain on site near assembly center 9 in Al-Maqwa area until the oil leak is fully subdued.
KOC said last Monday that the oil leak had sparked an ensuing blaze about 750 meters away from the well. (end) osj.nam
