KUWAIT, April 26 (KUNA) -- 1962 -- Sawt Alآ­Khaleej, a weekly magazine published by Baqer Khuraibet, hit news stands.
1978 -- The Amir Sheikh Jaber Alآ­Ahmad Alآ­Jaber Alآ­Sabah inaugurated Ahmad Alآ­Jaber Air Base. The base is located 70 km west of Kuwait City.
1980 -- The Amir Sheikh Jaber Alآ­Ahmad Alآ­Jaber Alآ­Sabah issued law 24/1980 approving the General Agreement for Economic, Technical, and Commercial Cooperation of the Organization of the Islamic Conference.
1988 -- A bomb blast ripped through the office of Saudi Airlines in the center of Kuwait City, injuring a security man and causing material damage.
1993 -- The Interior Ministry announced apprehension of a terrorist network comprising 17 people including 12 Iraqis, four Kuwaitis, and one stateless person. The Iraqi regime had recruited the group to carry out sabotage acts, destabilize the country, and spread fear among the public.
1998 -- Minister of Health and Acting Minister of Education and Acting Minister of Higher Education Dr. Adel Al-Subeeh inaugurated the first regional conference on combating smoking.
2000 -- Kuwait signed an agreement with the UAE, Bahrain, and Qatar for the bylaws of the GCC environmental societies' network, aimed at increasing cooperation and coordination between them.
2003 -- A Kuwait Airways Corporation plane loaded with humanitarian aid supplies to the Iraqi people lands at Baghdad International Airport. The plane is the first Kuwaiti aircraft to enter Iraqi airspace in 13 years.
2004 -- Subscription for Shariahآ­compliant Boubyan Bank shares began. Up to 760 million shares worth KD 76 million out of KD 100 million of the bank's total capital were open for public subscription.
2009 -- First edition of Alآ­Horiyah daily was issued with its Editor in Chief being Muthana Saleh Alآ­Fraij.
2010 -- Minister of Communications and Minister of State for National Assembly Affairs Dr. Mohammad Al-Busairi inaugurated the conference to support small enterprises entitled "Development Plan and the Future of Small Enterprises, Job Opportunities the Door to Economic Development", organized by the Kuwaiti economic society with the participation of Kuwaiti economic institutes.
2010 -- Kuwait and Germany signed MoU on bilateral cooperation between the two governments, in addition to signing a protocol to reform the MoU signed between the Kuwaiti Ministry of Higher Education and the German Center for Academic Exchange. (end) gta
