NEW YORK, April 23 (KUNA) -- Kuwait Permanent Representative to the UN Mansour Al-Otaibi participated, along with permanent representatives, in the annual retreat held by Secretary General Antonio Guterres in Sweden on April 21-22.
The informal discussions took place at the residence of Dag Hjalmar Agne Carl Hammarskjold, who was UN secretary general in 1953-1961, Kuwait's Mission to the UN said in a statement Monday.
The diplomats discussed Syrian crisis, how to improve peacekeeping missions, boosting preventive diplomacy and mediation, as well as improving UN Security Council's relations with regional organizations, it said.
The annual retreat is a good opportunity to discuss issues on the UNSC agenda informally. (end)
