Vox Cinemas granted second licensee in Saudi Arabia

RIYADH, April 22 (KUNA) -- Saudi Minister of Culture and Media Awad Al-Awad granted Vox Cinemas, a unit of Majed Al-Futtaim group, the second licensee to operate cinemas in Saudi Arabia.
According to Saudi Press Agency (SPA), Al-Futtaim group is investing USD 533.3 million in the Saudi cinema sector, with grand opening of 600 cinema halls, and job opportunities for 3,000 people in the next five years, to achieve the 2030 vision of diversifying the kingdom's economy.
Vox Cinemas is considered one of Middle East and Africa region's largest theatre operators, and will be one of the first region's cinema operators in the kingdom.
Last week, Minister Al-Awad inaugurated the opening of the first cinema theater, established by US-based AMC Entertainment Co. (end) od.mb
