Harmless quake rattles southeastern Iran

TEHRAN, April 22 (KUNA) -- An earthquake measuring 4.6 degrees shook the Iranian town of Kuhbanan in southeastern province of Kerman on Sunday, according to the official news agency, IRNA.
Seismological Center of the Geophysics Institute of Tehran University reported that the tremor occurred at 17:05 hours local time (12:35 GMT) in an area located at 31.33 degrees latitude and 56.32 degrees longitude and in the depth of 10 km underground.
The quake caused no casualties or damage, Head of Kerman province crisis management office Majid Saeedi told IRNA.
Iran sits on several major seismological fault lines, making it one of the world's most quake-prone countries. (end) fz.rk
