Al-Ghanim confirms Kuwaiti oil minister faces grilling on May 1

KUWAIT, April 16 (KUNA) -- Kuwait's top lawmaker Marzouq Al-Ghanim has disclosed that a grilling motion filed by a pair of lawmakers against Minister of Oil Bkheet Al-Rashidi is scheduled for parliament's regular session on May 1.
"The interpellation will take place on May 1, provided the minister does not make the call to postpone the procedure," the National Assembly Speaker told the press in parliament on Monday.
Al-Ghanim pointed out that he has notified His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Jaber Mubarak Al-Hamad Al-Sabah and Al-Rashidi of the grilling motion, which will be included in the agenda for the parliamentary session on May 1.
In the event the Kuwaiti oil minister chooses to discuss the issue during Wednesday's session of parliament, Al-Ghanim explained that "as per parliamentary procedure, he needs to get the National Assembly's approval first." Under parliamentary rules, "any grilling can only be discussed at least eight days after the motion was filed," he clarified.
Earlier on Monday, MPs Omar Al-Tabtabaei and Abdulwahab Al-Babtain filed a motion to grill Al-Rashidi, who doubles as Minister of Electricity and Water, for alleged mismanagement. (Pick up previous) ns.fn.nam
