Iran-Qatar gas field output up to 84 mln cubic meters: Pars CEO

TEHRAN, April 15 (KUNA) -- The production of the Iranian-Qatari South Pars gas field is planned to shoot up to 84 million cubic meters per day in months' time, Iran's Pars Oil and Gas Company's CEO Mishkin Fam said Sunday.
"With the completion of the first phase of the production chain in phases 13, 14, 22, 23 and 24 of the South Pars field in the first half of the current year (beginning on March 21), three billion cubic feet of gas (84 million cubic meters) will be added per day," he was quoted by Fars news agency as saying.
He hoped that the company would complete the second production series for development projects in the South Pars field by early next year.
Ten platforms for the stages 13 and 14, 22, 23 and 24 in the South Pars field are currently under construction, Fam added.
Since the development of the Pars gas field, USD 72 billion's worth of investments have been injected, he said, expecting this figure to edge up to USD 87 billion.
The Iranian-Qatari joint gas field, which covers 9,700 square kilometers, provides 70 percent of Tehran's gas needs, according to local reports. (end) fz.mt
