CAIRO, April 5 (KUNA) -- Egypt's President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi stressed Thursday the importance of uniting Arab nations to face challenges.
Al-Sisi's remarks were delivered on his behalf by the Speaker of Egyptian House of Representatives Ali Abdel Aal at the 27th conference for the Arab Inter-Parliamentary Union (AIPU).
The Arab people aspires to boost their inter-cooperation, solidarity, and ambition in order to be able to face dangers threatening their national security, said Al-Sisi.
He stressed the importance achieving peace in the Middle East region and establishing the Palestinian state based on the 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as capital.
The Egyptian President also pointed out his country's role in achieving the Palestinian reconciliation, noting the conference is held amid changing circumstances surrounding the Arab and Muslim nations.
The Arab region has, unfortunately, become a base for some of the most vicious conflicts and civil wars, Al-Sisi said, adding such a catastrophic crisis pave the way for further terror activities and illegal migrations.
A comprehensive Arab union is the hope of all Arabs, he said, stressing the importance of building joint interests and bridges among Arab parliamentary bodies to attain it.
Achieving peace in the region would undermine causes and justifications of terrorism, Al-Sisi said, noting the time has come to resolve the Palestinian cause.
Furthermore, the Egyptian President stressed the importance of finding a political solution for the ongoing crisis in Syria, Libya, and Yemen.
Resolving inter-conflicts and segregation, and establishing a national and just state is the way to achieve a political solution for conflict-stricken Arab countries, he noted.
Al-Sisi also said Arab countries should activate commercial and investment exchange among them to increase their trade volume and have a better use of their natural resources that would, eventually, attain joint interest and back development.
Moreover, Al-Sisi noted his country is currently waging a fierce war to eradicate roots and sources of terrorism, adding such an action is Egyptian government's top priority to defend the country, Arab surroundings, and the whole world.
