Yemen min. urges Houthis to hand Hodeidah port to int'l teams

JEDDAH, April 4 (KUNA) -- Yemeni Minister of Local Administration and Chairman of the Higher Relief Committee Abdelraqib Fatah urged the international community to press Houthi militia to hand in all airports and ports to the legitimate government.
In statements aired by the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) on Wednesday, Fatah said the Al-Hodeidah port should be run by international teams.
He condemned Houthis attempts to obstruct navigation off Al-Hodeidah port as a terrorist act and blatant violation of international laws.
Fatah argued that Houthis' control and use of Al-Hodeidah port turned it into a military base to threaten international navigation as well as regional and world security.
He reiterated that Houthis' presences in Al-Hodeidah port threatens 30 percent of the global trade.
Last night, the coalition for supporting legitimacy in Yemen announced foiling an attack on a Saudi oil tanker in international waters west of Al-Hodeidah port. (end) nsa.ibi
