TOKYO, April 3 (KUNA) -- It is cherry blossom viewing season in Japan now. Until mid-April, the country is covered with pinkish cherry blossoms (Sakura), Japan's national flower.
Many people enjoy cherry blossom viewing parties under the Sakura trees with their families, friends or colleagues and celebrate the coming of spring.
The blossoms usually reach their peak in only a week after blooming starts, and famous viewing spots are crowded with visitors on weekends at this time.
According to the Japan Meteorological Agency, the cherry blossoms this year have bloomed about 10 days earlier than average in many parts of the country, due to the recent warm weather. (end) mk.gta
