France urges restraint over Gaza clashes

PARIS, April 1 (KUNA) -- France expressed Sunday deep concern over the recent incidents in Gaza Strip which left several Palestinians dead or injured.
In a press statement, the French Foreign Ministry urged Israeli authorities to show self-restraint.
It reminded Israel of its duties towards the protection of civilians.
France defended the Palestinians' right to demonstrate peacefully.
It emphasized that ending the humanitarian crisis in Gaza would be through the lifting of the blockade.
About 15 Palestinians were killed and 1,416 were wounded when Israeli forces opened fire on tens of thousands of Palestinians who demonstrating to re-emphasize the right of Palestinian refugees to return to their homeland. (end) mjz.ibi
