IS executes eight policemen in Iraq - source

BAGHDAD, March 24 (KUNA) -- The so-called Islamic State (IS) has killed eight Iraqi police officers north of the capital Baghdad, a security source said on Saturday.
The policemen were returning to their barracks when they were abducted by IS militants at a fake checkpoint along the road between the Iraqi capital and the city of Kirkuk, the source told KUNA.
The Iraqi military has launched an operation to flush out the remnants of IS in Kirkuk after it declared military victory against the militants last December. (end) ahh.nam
