US Deputy Sec. of State, Saudi Crown Prince discuss bilateral, regional issues

WASHINGTON, March 23 (KUNA) -- US Deputy Secretary of State John Sullivan met on Thursday with Saudi Crown Prince Mohammad bin Salman Al-Saud "to affirm the longstanding and vital US-Saudi ties, as well as our strong and enduring bilateral relations," it was announced Friday.
State Department Spokesperson Heather Nauert said in a statement that during their meeting, Sullivan and the Saudi Crown Prince discussed "a broad range of bilateral and regional issues." On Yemen, "they shared assessments of the humanitarian situation and agreed on the urgent need for a political process to end the war." Sullivan and Prince Mohammad also discussed "containing Iranian influence in the region." They also "exchanged ideas on holding a productive US-GCC Summit in the near future," she noted.
She added that Sullivan "wished the Crown Prince well on the rest of his visit to the United States." Prince Mohammad will be visiting several cities, including New York, Houston, Seattle and San Francisco during his visit to the US. (end) si.sd
