Kuwait, Qatar to boost health cooperation

DOHA, March 22 (KUNA) -- Kuwait's Minister of Health Sheikh Basil Humoud Hamad Al-Sabah and Qatari Minister of Public Health Dr. Hanan Al-Kuwari on Thursday discussed means of boosting bilateral cooperation, with focus on children's genetic diseases.
The meeting also reviewed the brotherly relations between the two Arab countries and means to enhance them in all fields, health in particular, Sheikh Basil told KUNA.
He added that he was acquainted with Qatar's health strategy and the use of modern technology to care for the elderly, and mental health services.
Sheikh Basil lauded the Qatari hospitals and medical centers for the high-level services they offer to patients.
The Kuwaiti minister and an accompanying delegation visited the Hamad Medical Corporation's (HMC) Medical City complex, where he toured departments of medical rehabilitation, woman health and the one-day surgery center.
They also visited the Sidra Medical and Research Center, one of the leading institutions that provide exemplary health care for women and children.
During the visit to Sidra, the minister was briefed on the multitude of health services, which cover prevention, treatment and research, especially in heart and genetic diseases. Sheikh Basil and the Kuwaiti delegation arrived in Doha Wednesday to attend the Middle East Forum on Quality and Safety in Healthcare that kicks off on Friday for three days. (end) nnd.msa
