OIC permanent representatives conclude preparatory meeting in Jeddah

JEDDAH, March 20 (KUNA) -- Permanent representatives of member states of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) concluded on Tuesday a preparatory meeting of Foreign Ministers conference to be hosted by Bangladesh in May.
In a statement issued today, OIC said the preparatory meeting discussed economic, legal, educational, political, cultural and organizational issues, as well as conditions of Muslim minorities, dialogue among civilizations and some humanitarian activities.
The meeting also dealt with some topics, including the Syrian and Libyan dossiers, and situations in Mali, Jammu and Kashmir as well as other pressing issues and the support of Somalia to return to the international community, the statement added.
It focused on the issue of Jerusalem city and repercussions of US President Donald Trump's decision to recognize the city as Israel's capital and developments of this move.
The conferees discussed tourist, agricultural and commercial matters as well as combating poverty, and technology and sciences issues, it pointed out.
They highlighted conditions of Syrian refugees and the organization's role in Africa, the Horn Africa and Somalia.
The meeting touched upon stimulating purposeful media action and supporting media outlets in the region as well as other key matters.
The representatives referred the final communique to foreign ministers conference, which is expected to issue a host of pivotal resolutions pertaining to OIC affairs, the statement concluded. (pickup previous) nsa.hm
