Palestinian President's measures against Gaza unacceptable - Islamic Jihad

GAZA, March 19 (KUNA) -- The Palestinian Islamic Jihad Movement stated its firm opposition to any punitive measures President Mahmoud Abbas might take against Gaza Strip.
The new measures, President Abbas plans to adopt, are as totally unacceptable as the old ones, it said in a press release on Monday night.
The movement also condemned the accusations leveled by Abbas against Hamas movement over the attempt on the life of Prime Minister Rami Hamdallah, saying that these claims risk undermining the unity of the Palestinian people.
"Such accusations pose a serious threat to the national unity and provide justifications for the unfair embargo imposed on Gaza Strip by the Zionist enemy," according to the statement.
The movement called on the fellow groups to remain united in defense of the resistance against the Israeli occupation authorities and the hostile designs targeting the Palestinian people.
Earlier in the day, President Abbas vowed to take legal and financial measures in response to the attempt on the life of Prime Minister Rami Hamdallah.
A roadside bomb went off when the convoy of Hamdallah and Palestinian General Intelligence chief Majed Faraj arrived in Gaza on Tuesday, March 13; seven people were injured in the blast. (pickup previous) wab.gb
