MOSCOW, March 19 (KUNA) -- Russian President Vladimir Putin has won another term after his overwhelming victory in the presidential elections that took place yesterday.
The Russian Central Elections' Committee announced the win, with Putin gaining 76.5 percent, which makes more than 50 million votes, while his main competitor, Communist Party (Bolsheviks) candidate Pavel Grudinin only garnered 12 percent.
However, the elections' results reflected the Russian community's resistance to national radical appraoch represented by the 'Communists of Russia' party candidate Maxim Suraykin, as well Russian 'All-People's Union' candidate Sergei Baburinm, as both only gained one percent of the votes.
The Liberal party also only gained 1.5 percent of the total vote, represented by candidates Grigory Yavlinsky, Borisb Titov, and Ksenia Sobchak.
The results indicate the relative success of Bolsheviks in the nomination of the capitalist candidate Grudinin, who gained 12 percent of the votes.
by this win, Putin gained even broad popular mandate to continue his political and economic policies.
It also showed that the Russian people support the Kremlin's foreign policy that rejects a unipolar world, and the exportation of the West's democratic model, which would contribute Russia regaining its position as a world power.
The opposing Russian Communist Party is considered the second important political power in the country, which requires extra care and opportunities to take part in the country's political and economic decision-making.
Major Western political blocs were aspiring that liberal political powers in Russia would take part in changing the political scene in the country, but all those parties together only gained three percent of the vote.
On the other hand, Putin will work to empower the military capabilities, yet he will still welcome negotiating with the West in order to build a new international security system.
The Russian economy is witnessing an active growth phase reaching 1.5 to 2 percent, as well as decreasing the inflation rates by three percent, along with periodical increase in salaries.
The country also cherishes development in the educational and health sectors, and activation of alternative production policy in order to substitute importing goods. (end) as.lb
