1900 -- The Russian gunboat, Gilyak, with many naval troops on board, docks at a Kuwaiti port. the Amir Sheikh Mubarak Al-Sabah welcomes the navy men.
1954 -- Kuwait Airways Corporation celebrates the landing of its first aircraft, a Dakota DC-3 named Kathma, at the old airport was located in the now called Abdullah Al-Salem and Nuzha areas.
1970 -- The Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Salem Al-Sabah issues decree annulling a law issued on May 14, 1964, on establishment of the "Public Authority for the Management of Al-Shuaiba Industrial Zone" and replacing it with an independent body named the "Shuaiba Public Authority". This came under supervision of the Ministry of Oil and the Ministry of Finance.
1970 -- The State of Kuwait establishes diplomatic ties with Yemen at ambassadorial level.
1976 -- The Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Salem Al-Sabah issues law to transfer the rights of BP (Kuwait) Ltd. and the Gulf Kuwait Company to the State of Kuwait.
1976 -- The Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Salem Al-Sabah issues law enforcing conscription from March 18, 1978.
1977 -- The Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Salem Al-Sabah returns home after undergoing medical treatment in London during a trip that lasted four months. Thousands of citizens greeted him upon arrival.
1980 -- The ice-skating rink, the first of its kind in Kuwait and the Middle East, was inaugurated. The Olympic-size rink is 1,800 square meters, with a capacity to seat 1,600 spectators.
1982 -- Failaka Resort was inaugurated, boasting an area of five million square meters, with 472 chalets.
1999 -- Kuwaiti women took part for the first time in cooperative union society elections.
2008 -- His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah addresses the Kuwaiti people over dissolving the parliament for sake of protecting the homeland against "irresponsible acts." 2009 -- His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah issues a decree accepting resignation of His Highness Prime Minister Sheikh Nasser Al-Mohammad Al-Sabah and his Cabinet.
2015 -- Deputy Premier and Interior Minister Sheikh Mohammad Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah issues a resolution for establishing the Environment Police. (end) hb
