Iraq rebuilding conf. shows world's desire to support stability - PM Abadi

BAGHDAD, March 18 (KUNA) -- Iraqi Prime Minister Haidar Al-Abadi said Sunday Kuwait-hosted international conference on reconstruction of Iraq reflected the international community's support of the country's stability.
"The conference in Kuwait succeeded in sending a message that the world was standing by Iraq for its reconstruction and stability, in the wake of the victory against the terrorist Islamic State," Abadi was quoted by a government statement as saying during a meeting with European ambassadors in Baghdad.
Iraq, he added, was facing many challenges including reconstruction, creating jobs and giving private sector great role in development.
Iraq's reconstruction conference, held last month, resulted in contributions worth USD 30 billion presented by governments and businesses.
At the conference, His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah announced Kuwait's allocation of USD one billion in the form of loans, and another USD one billion in the form of investments, alongside donations from Kuwaiti charities. (end) ahh.bs
