TEHRAN, March 17 (KUNA) -- Iran will not accept any change, new interpretation or any procedure aiming to undermine the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), Secretary of Supreme National Security Council Ali Shamkhani said on Saturday.
Shamkhani made the statement while receiving Minister Responsible for Foreign Affairs of Oman Yousuf bin Alawi in Tehran, Iranian media reported.
He affirmed that Iran's defense capabilities, especially the missile program, will continue in line with security necessities without being affected by media and political propaganda in this path.
The Iranian official considered "violations by the United States of this international agreement and the silence of the Europe towards these violations as a clear sign of the necessity of the concentration by the countries in the region on finding a regional solution for problems and crises." Meanwhile, he affirmed the deep-rooted relations between Iran and Oman, in light of the "remarkable convergence" between the two countries regarding regional issues.
He added that Iran's principled policy is based on strengthening relations, cooperation, self-restraint and understanding with its neighboring countries.
He called for developing cooperation between Tehran and Muscat in the economy and energy fields as well as commodities.
For his part, the Omani official said that his country considers Iran as its trustworthy neighbor and partner, commending Iran's role in establishing stability and security in the region.
He added that Tehran and Muscat are going to open new horizons of economic cooperation that would allow the two sides to reach new markets.
In 2015, Iran and six world powers signed a nuclear deal, known as JCPOA, under which Tehran agreed to curb its nuclear program in exchange for sanctions relief. (end) mw.hm
