Suicide car bombing kills three people in Afghanistan

ISLAMABAD, March 17 (KUNA) -- At least three civilians were killed on Saturday and four others injured in a suicide car bombing in Afghanistan's capital city Kabul.
Afghan Deputy spokesman of the Ministry of Interior (MoI), Nasrat Rahimi told media that the bombing occurred in Park-i-Sanati Kochak area in the limits of ninth police district.
The spokesman confirmed that the bomber was heading towards global security company G4S but blew himself up before reaching the target.
All those killed and wounded in the attack were civilians, with no casualties among the foreign contractors, the ministry said.
The spokesman for the Ministry of Public Health, Dr. Waheed Majroh told media that three bodies and four injured people had been evacuated to the forensic medical center.
According to local media, Taliban claimed responsibility for the suicide car bombing, saying one of the group's members carried out the attack on a foreign forces' convoy.
Earlier this week, top US commander in Afghanistan John Nicholson said security would be "the main effort" for international powers helping Afghan defense and security forces.
The bombing came weeks after Afghan President Ashraf Ghani offered to recognize the Taliban rebels as a legitimate political group to end the 16 years of war. (end) Sbk.mb
