Kuwaiti envoy extols ties with Russia

By Nasser Al-Otaibi KUWAIT, March 11 (KUNA) -- A Kuwaiti diplomat on Sunday spoke highly of his country's ties with Russia, fondly reminiscing about how Moscow stood in solidarity with the Kuwaiti people during the Iraqi invasion.
Speaking to KUNA 55 years after Kuwait's diplomatic relations with Russia began in earnest, Assistant Foreign Minister for European Affairs Waleed Al-Khbaizi pointed out that bilateral ties have been on a perpetual progress over the years.
He spoke of high-profile visits officials from both nations have exchanged, in addition to political discussions on the level of deputy foreign ministers, with the next round of talks due shortly.
Earlier on Sunday, the Kuwaiti envoy and Russia's ambassador to Kuwait Alexey Solomatin exchanged well wishes in an amiable encounter to celebrate more than five decades of diplomatic ties. (end) nma.nam
