ABU DHABI, Feb 25 (KUNA) -- The third edition of the Unmanned Systems Exhibition and Conference (UMEX) and the Simulation Exhibition and Conference (SIMTEX) kick-started at Abu Dhabi National Exhibitions Center (ADNEC) on Sunday.
The representatives of 34 countries, including Kuwait, and 122 defence and security companies are taking part in the gathering being held under the patronage of Sheikh Mohammad bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces.
The three-day events will discuss topics such as the increasing interoperability of unmanned systems across multi-domain environments, identifying future UAS equipment and training requirements, and optimizing simulation and training capabilities using next generation technologies.
Head of the Kuwaiti Army's armament dept. Maj.-Gen. Staff Ahmad Al-Omairi leads the Kuwaiti delegation to the events, which were opened by UAE Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Interior Lt.-Gen. Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan.
The premier regional UMEX/SIMTEX events provide a unique opportunity for participants to share experience and increase the capacities of their countries to address the new regional and international geopolitical developments, Maj.-Gen. Staff Al-Omair told KUNA.
They constitute leading platforms for a full spectrum of civil defense and military divisions, such as marine, air and land search and rescue, as well as aerial photography, he pointed out.
He lauded the advanced level secured by the UAE in the fields of defense and military industries and thanked the sisterly country for hosting the conference and exhibition.
Maj.-Gen. Staff Al-Omair extolled Kuwait's First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense Sheikh Nasser Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah and the Army's Chief of the General Staff Lt.-Gen. Staff Mohammad Al-Khodr for their keenness on participation in such conferences and exhibitions with a view to keeping abreast with the latest developments in the defence industry. (end) bs.gb
