CAIRO, Feb 24 (KUNA) -- Egyptian President Abdel-Fattah Al-Sisi said on Saturday it is imperative for the international community to devise a multilevel strategy to fight terrorism.
Meeting with a visiting US Christian evangelical delegation, led by US President Donald Trump's Faith Advisory Board Chairman Mike Evans, the Egyptian president said this strategy includes denying terrorists access to shelter, weapons, training camps and finance.
Presidential Spokesman Bassam Radi quoted Al-Sisi as elaborating that the strategy is also intended to address extremist ideologies and to promote the core values of tolerance and co-existence.
He underlined the significance of supporting national institutions in crises-hit countries in the region in order to cut off the way for growing terrorism and extremism.
He reiterated his country's keenness on observing the principles of citizenship, equality and non-discrimination among citizens on religious, communal or other bases.
On his part, the US guests voiced much appreciation of the role played by the Egyptian leader in fighting terrorism and promoting development and economic reform.
Hailing strong relations between the US and Egypt, they said they are interested in giving the American people a real image of the current situation in Egypt. (end) aff.mt
