Al-Sisi: Egypt seeks to be regional hub for power

CAIRO, Feb 21 (KUNA) -- Egyptian President Abdulfattah Al-Sisi has said that Egypt is aiming to become a regional hub for power.
This requires maximizing benefits of the country's capabilities and facilities for processing the gas extracted from the East Mediterranean fields, both at home or in other countries, Al-Sisi said Wednesday during the opening of the Investor Services Center at the Ministry of Investment and International Cooperation.
The Egyptian leader referred to an Egyptian law that regulates gas trade, which makes it a free market, Al-Siri said. He added that the state had allowed the private sector access to the field, according to Presidential spokesman Bassam Radhi.
He also pointed out that importing natural gas from Israel was a private sector business supported by the state.
"We have nothing to conceal about this issue," Al-Sisi said, adding that the gas to be imported would be processed at the Egyptian facilities and would be used to meet local demand, as well as for export purposes.
Meanwhile, Al-Sisi lauded the ongoing efforts to enhance the investment atmosphere, referring to promising opportunities. (end) aff.asa.msa
