Five killed in rocket, mortar attacks on Damascus

AMMAN, Feb 20 (KUNA) -- The Syrian capital Damascus on Tuesday became under attack with rocket salvos and artillery volleys crashing into the city main squares, the official news agency Sana said.
At least five people died and 20 others were wounded due to the incoming waves of bursting shells and rockets, Sana quoted a police source as saying.
Opposition gunmen entrenched in Ghouta on the city outskirts unleashed the attack with rockets and mortar shells, Sana said.
The incoming projectiles slammed into Al-Tahreer, Al-Amaweieen and Al-Abbaseieen plazas.
Ghouta is a farming region on the outskirts of the capital. It has been targeted with intensive air and missiles strikes over the past three days, killing 190 people and wounding 850 others. (end) tk.rk
