Jordanian MPs reject no-confidence motion against gov't

AMMAN, Feb 18 (KUNA) -- Jordanian members of parliament on Sunday turned down a no-confidence motion against Prime Minister Hani Al-Mulki's government over recent tax decisions.
The motion was opposed by 67 MPs, and 49 in favor, while four abstained out of 122 MPs who attended the Lower House's session today.
To withdraw confidence in the government, a memo must be approved by 66 deputies out of the 130-member parliament.
The Jordanian government had made a set of economic decisions to impose new taxes on commodities and services upon recommendations from the International Monetary Fund (IMF). (end) mjb.mt
