MUNICH, Germany, Feb 18 (KUNA) -- Saudi Foreign Minister Adel Al-Jubeir on Sunday renewed a call on Iran to respect international laws and stop meddling in regional states' affairs.
Urging Iran to adhere to the international laws, Al-Jubeir said, "this is basic and constitutes condition so it may stop being target of criticisms and lift international sanctions." Al-Jubeir, addressing the 54th Session of the Munich Security Conference, said Iran has continued to "export revolutionary ideas" to the Gulf region and support the Lebanese organization Hezbollah, "which is the largest terrorist organization in the region." Moreover, the Iranians have continued "plotting terrorist operations in Saudi Arabia and Bahrain," he said.
Iran continues, he adds, to undermine security in Lebanon, Yemen, Syria, Afghanistan and some African countries, "Thus we must stand in its face at the international quarters and call for imposing curbs on it." Al-Jubeir called for fundamental change to the Iranian regime and affirmed that Riyadh's ties with Iraq were improving. As to Yemen, he disclosed that his country opened an office for facilitating humanitarian work there and earmarking USD 10 billion for such a task.
On Syria, he forecast greater pressure on the regime to "make it deal with the opposition." As to the Libyan question, he affirmed that Riyadh is coordinating with the UN on the issue. (end) anj.rk
